How to Start a Blog that Makes Money

Feel free to share it with friends 🙂

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that they wanted to start a blog of some kind, I’d have about a dollar 😉

Today, we’ll start talking about how to create a blog on your own, and how to start a WordPress blog.

You can start a blog that makes you money, and lets you quit that God awful job that makes you want to cry every blasted morning.

If you haven’t already figured it out; I’m cheap. That doesn’t mean that I like cheap things, for cheap, that means that I want at least the same high priced quality as offered by others, but at a lower price.

The #1 Rule for starting a Blog that Makes Money?

You CANNOT start and run or maintain that blog on a FREE host like Blogger or WordPress.com.

Don’t even think it.

There are a million reasons why a Blogger/Blogspot blog is a truly bad idea for a blogger who wants to get serious, and you should absolutely setup a WordPress (.org) blog using a web host like this one.

If you’re truly interested in making money from your blog at any point, I have to tell you that paying for your blog hosting through a good, reliable hosting provider, is an absolute MUST.

It’s super cheap to get your hosting through this web host (MUCH cheaper than through most others), and the hosting capabilities are as good as other, more expensive hosting providers. You can run any of your own advertisements, affiliate links, etc. with a blog hosted with this host. You can’t easily do the things that make money for you on your free blog, like run advertising and affiliate links.

Making money on Blogger or any other free blogging platform is very difficult, if not completely impossible. In addition, most advertisers and companies don’t view free blogs as seriously as self-hosted (WordPress) blogs, so that’s another big reason to use this web host.

If I haven’t said enough, here’s something to think about; blogging platforms like Blogger and WordPress.com don’t let you make money by putting ads on their free blog, because they want you to build the blog on their free platform, so that they an place ads on it, and make that money, instead of YOU doing it!

Shady right?

I started this blog because I wanted to do something that I loved for a living. In order to do that, I had to build it as a self hosted website.

I’ve been blogging on and off since 2004, but didn’t take it seriously until a few years ago. It lets me work from home, my schedule is flexible and life is good.

Anyone can make money with a blog, and so far I’ve been able to at least make back the money that I paid for this blog and then some, and more is coming.

Peace! 🙂
